Galaxy Orb with a black hole

Handmade unique piece of ceramic art fired with an ancient method, in a pit with live fire. The smoke from the materials, burning in the pit, creates the colors and the pattern. The four elements, Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire play part in the creation while the bowl is fired in the pit outside in nature. 

Due to extreme conditions in the pit, the ceramic can easily crack or break. When that happens it is sometimes possible to repair with Kintsugi, an ancient Japanese method to repair with precious metals. This orb is repaired with silver.

This is one of a kind piece of art. No two items will ever look the same.  

The orb is low-fired and not completely vitrified. It can not hold liquid. 
After firing it is treated with a beeswax sealer. It's not suitable for food. 
Approximately 12 cm in diameter, 10 cm high (4.7 inches Ø x 4 inches high).
The material is stoneware.

Hnöttur með holu brenndur í holu

Handgerður listmunur úr keramiki brenndur með fornri aðferð í holu með lifandi eldi. Reykurinn frá eldsmatnum býr til munstrið og litina. Frumöflin fjögur, jörð, vatn, eldur og loft eru þáttakendur í sköpuninn meðan munurinn er brenndur í holunni úti í náttúrunni. 

Vegna hreyfingar og hitamismunar í holunni getur keramikið auðveldlega brotnað. Þá er hægt að gera við það með Kintsugi sem er forn japönsk aðferð til að gera við keramik með eðalmálmum. Silfur var notað til að gera við þennan hnött.

Þessi gripur er sá eini sinnar tegundar. Engir tveir verða nokkurntíman eins.
